Having spent many years in the sales & marketing world, and over a decade as relationship support for one of the largest social care providers of Dementia care within the South West, the creation of Wicked Care grew organically through the relationships made over the years with care providers and healthcare professionals.
Over the course of our journey within adult social care, we have witness incredible care, care that anyone would want for a loved one, however, sadly we have also witnessed some not-so-great care. As most of us at Wicked Care are "quintastic", we found ourselves wondering more about the world, more about "what else can we do", what can we contribute, how can we make a difference. So, combining our decades of experience within the care, sales and marketing, we came up with Wicked Care Consultancy.
We thoughtfully, and cautiously, chose the word "wicked" as our understanding of it as a synonym for "very" or "extremely", we then thought of it as a sense of the meaning "of exceptional quality" and turned to the Urban Dictionary's definition of "wonderful", "great", "splendid", "excellent" - all qualities we would look for in a person working in care - et voila, Wicked Care Consultancy was born!
We have been fortunate over the years to meet some incredible people, people who understand that “person-centered” isn’t just a buzz word, these incredible people describe person-centered care as not just being a compassionate carer, but taking it one step further and being empathetic, wanting to understand the feelings of others, to sense and feel the emotion of others, to afford the people in their care with dignity, empathy, compassion and respect.
We once read that it’s a lot easier to end up in a career that you love if you take an organic approach rather than planning out a linear-career path, so this is exactly what we did!
